Reader Comment: Coronavirus threatens victims rights
Next week is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, and because of coronavirus, it’s harder than ever for people to leave abusive partnerships. While...
A high-profile survivor of domestic, sexual, emotional, and financial abuse will be headlining the 3rd annual Faces of Courage fundraiser here in Boise in April. On April 9th, Idahoans will get a chance to hear firsthand about the resilience and perseverance of Andrea “Drea” Kelly, the former wife of disgraced music star, R. Kelly.
Drea Kelly is a former dancer, choreographer, and actress who has turned her marital and personal adversity into a motivational narrative that has reached tens of thousands of women across the country. Since going public about her relationship with R. Kelly, Drea has also become a powerful advocate for domestic violence awareness and overcoming adversity.
The event is also a critical fundraiser for FACES of Hope and we here at Marsy’s Law for Idaho are pleased to once again co-sponsor the event. The fundraiser comes at an important time as FACES – which provides a full spectrum of services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child and elder abuse, stalking, and human trafficking – has recently transitioned into a new facility in Meridian.
